May 2019 Newsletter
It’s only May and we already have more political candidates who have announced they will run for the presidency than new books being published by Oceanview this year! Since we won’t get into politics, we will stick to information about our books. They are all guaranteed to entertain you—in a good way. That can’t always be said about our political candidates, but it’s true for our books. All you have to do is read them!
First off, we are happy to report that Angel in the Fog, our April feature title, has been garnering rave reviews and seems to have really touched a chord with history buffs. TJ Turner has an uncanny ability to wrap accurate history into a gripping mystery. If only they had taught history that way in school! Pinkerton agent, Molly Ferguson will captivate your heart and hold you rapt as she ventures far beyond enemy lines in the Deep South to spy for the Union.
May brings the release of Below the Fold by R. G. Belsky, the second Clare Carlson mystery. Not only are Belsky’s books gripping stories, but Belsky’s background in both print and television news shines through in his characters and his crisp writing style. Clare is determined to find the story behind the murder of a homeless woman in the streets of Manhattan—and when Clare digs, she finds. And she finds plenty—wealthy and influential figures, more victims, more trouble—and her biggest story ever.
There is a second treat in May that readers have been waiting for: D.P. Lyle is back with Sunshine State starring the endearing Jake Longly and Nicole Jamison. This time, Jake and Nicole take on a really weird case. An incarcerated serial killer claims that of the seven murders he confessed to, he only killed five; the other two he did not do—but he won’t say which two. Jake and Nicole’s assignment is to figure out which two of the seven and to find that killer. Weird? Oh, yes. Danger? Oh, yes. Classic Jake and Nicole humor? Yes, that too. Like Lyle’s other Jake Longly books, you won’t be able to put this one down.
In May, Broken Ground, the 4th of Joe Clifford’s highly acclaimed Jay Porter novels comes out in paperback. That’s good news if you have not yet met Jay Porter. Best-selling author David Morrell (of Rambo fame) says: “Joe Clifford’s a crime writer to pay attention to.” Listen to David Morrell. Broken Ground will also prepare you for Clifford’s next book in the series, Rag and Bone, out in June 2019 so you won’t have to wait very long! This Jay Porter series will set a new standard for readers who appreciate hardcore, relentless noir—and for all of us who want to experience—but not firsthand—the gritty side of America.
Just to remind you that all of our books are available at all bookstores, online bookstores, and on all e-readers.
