March 2020 Newsletter

Like everyone else, I will start with the “elephant in the room”, or should I say, the pit viper in the world—coronavirus. The impact is enormous. Perhaps bigger than anything that we have witnessed in our lifetimes. Not only does it threaten our health, our economy, our jobs—but even our relationships. When was the last time you sat next to or across the table from your spouse or special other, or your children for 16 hours a day? Perhaps the risk of stepping out is not as bad as the risks of staying in!

We regret to report that the Left Coast Crime mystery convention in San Diego was canceled after only one day. Unfortunate for our outstanding author, Matt Coyle, who was the host and Toastmaster for the event, as well as a nominee for the Lefty Award for Best Novel. How these awards will be handled is presently under consideration.

The positive side of the virus scare is that we should have more time to read. And so, here is Oceanview from its sterile offices (just kidding) in Sarasota, giving you the opportunity to enjoy some fantastic mysteries and thrillers.

First, let me say that our February release, The Heartless by David Putnam, is selling like hotcakes. Putnam’s popularity is exploding and bookstores and on-line sales are proving that point. It’s time that you meet Bruno Johnson—a big tough guy with an even bigger heart; and you, too, will become a solid Putnam fan.

In March, we released the book that I continue to refer to as an epic—The Leonardo Gulag by Kevin Doherty. This is a history lesson on life in Russia under Stalin, wrapped in a unique and brutal thriller. Replicating a painting by Leonardo DaVinci is more than challenging. The extra pressure of your life depending on creating perfection doesn’t make it easier.

March also brings the release of the paperback version of A Room Full of Night, the spell-binding psychological thriller by TR Kenneth. This is a David-and-Goliath tale of survival. A one-man-stand against evil.
In April, we move you to the beautiful island of Bonaire in Diver’s Paradise by Davin Goodwin, where you will meet Detective Roscoe Conklin as he watches over the lazy island life around him. But when a murderer comes around, Roscoe goes on alert. He’d better. He could be a target. You will want to see more from this debut author, and soon!

Please see additional purchasing opportunities below, and KEEP ON READING.
