December 2020 Newsletter

Finally, politics are simmering down to an almost acceptable limit. The crazies are still taking their verbal shots and the more radical are actually threatening individuals. The better news is that the vaccines are beginning to roll out and according to our most reliable source—Dr. Tony Fauci—a significant number of people could be vaccinated by next summer. But don’t drop your guard. Serious danger of aggressive spreading still exists. Masks and social distancing continue to make sense—and try to avoid large crowds. Although we wish everyone a wonderful holiday season, we hope that you will still be careful healthwise.

Normally, the holiday season means some time off from work and so, along with all of the other activities, we hope that you will have a little extra reading time—and once again, we have some tremendous reading material for you.

First, a look back at the most recent releases. As we approach winter, Andrea Carter’s masterpiece The Well of Ice is a perfect choice. A superb mystery in the style of Agatha Christie with a wintery feel and an enhanced Christmas spirit. If we wanted to design our own Christmas card, the town of Glendara on Ireland’s Inishowen Peninsula—Carter’s setting—would make a perfect picture for the card: quaint and charming. However, some of the things happening there are certainly not in the spirit of Christmas. . . Great setting, great mystery, great read!

December’s main event (drum roll!): the return of multiple award-winning author Matt Coyle and the Rick Cahill PI Crime Series. Blind Vigil introduces a different Rick Cahill—one who is hampered but not defeated—a physically challenged Cahill determined to practice his chosen profession. Despite the escalated danger, he is willing to battle physical impairments to secure the truth once gain. And—late-breaking news—The Associated Press has published a stellar review of Blind Vigil that is being covered by more than 3,000 news outlets!

December will also treat you to the paperback version of Shawn Wilson’s Relentless. If you like books by Michael Connelly and his protagonist Harry Bosch, you will love Relentless with police detective Brian Kavanaugh—another of those detectives that uses more brain than brawn. Throw in a Washington, D.C. setting in cherry blossom season and you have the perfect mystery read.

And December brings The Reflecting Pool by debut author Otho Eskin into audio, introducing Washington, D. C. unorthodox homicide detective Marko Zorn. Zorn may be the best crime hero this side of Jason Bourne. The audiobook is narrated by Keith Jedlicka.

Please be sure to take a look at the additional purchasing opportunities below and—KEEP ON READING—and—HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ALL OF US AT OCEANVIEW.
